Too Much Information: Another Member of the Bathtub Kennel Club

Following in the great tradition established by D.C., I will be using today's post to show you the dog I just got.  His name is Pancake, which (I am just realizing) means both D.C. and I named our dogs after P foods.  If another contributor wants to get a puppy and name him Pastrami, I think we will have a neat little set of breakfast, lunch, and dinner together.

Too Much Information: Childmetrics

If you've ever read YouTub (it's the one you have to scroll past to get to E-bathing) you'll understand the high demands involved in asking me to write a post with significant written content. I needed a theme from the past rotation that I had a lot to say about, which narrows it down to New Jersey and children (alcohol as well, but the things I have to say about it mostly consist of disconnected syllables). I think I've made my feelings about New Jersey pretty clear, especially after I learned that it was so boring and uninteresting that I couldn't even find a good YouTube video about it, so let's take a look at children, and how much I dislike them.

Too Much Information: Un-Alcoholics Un-Anonymous

Alcohol is great, but from dating a sworn abstainer I've come to accept over the years that it's not necessarily for everyone.  There are benefits to an alcohol-free life; for example, those who choose not to drink are staving off a hell of a lot of extra calories, while at the same time keeping a lot of brain cells and dignity they may have otherwise lost.  However, abstainers aren't automatically more responsible and virtuous than the rest of us; Wikipedia's " List of teetotalers" contains both billionaires and serial killers.  This is because, in my opinion, whether or not drinking alcohol is a good idea varies greatly from person to person.

To prove my point, I have chosen a few representative teetotalers from said Wikipedia list and combined them with my own ability to speculate (obligatory disclaimer: neither of those sources are wholly reliable, and when taken together they are downright sketchy) in an attempt to decide which of society's most famous Sober Sallys are better off for not having been drinkers--and which are not.

Too Much Information: The Hits Keep Coming

Scatterbrained, procrastinating, ADD types like myself know that the worst thing you can give us is choices.  (The best thing?  Concerta.)  When confronted with too many choices, we have no idea where to start--so we don't.  Instead, faced with the prospect of organizing, prioritizing, and making tough decisions, we do what feels natural: become distracted by the nearest passing butterfly. 

The coping mechanism I use to deal with Choice Overload is simple: seize onto the first idea that comes into my head, no matter how stupid, and run with it.  That's why, when you read my post today, you will encounter a pretty stupid idea, fully executed.  After the jump: a short story that contains the word "hit" (or "hits," "hitting," etc.) at least once in every sentence.

My first thought when I heard that our theme this week would be New Jersey was, "Hmm.  Eh."  I've since come around a bit because I'm willing to concede that a week-long, semi-to-fully-sarcastic tribute on an obscure blog is actually a pretty fitting amount of attention for New Jersey to be receiving; still, NJ has never been my cup of tea. This week, I wonder: is New Jersey even an improvement on Old Jersey?

Bad weather is always inconvenient and sometimes scary.  In Maryland, we tend to get some really crap weather, because we are Northy enough for the snow, Southy enough for the hurricanes, and Middley enough for the tornadoes.  Given my recent disclosure that I am scared of pretty much everything but kittens and rainbows, it should surprise no one that I am also scared of extremely bad weather.  However, I am also fascinated by it, because you have to admit that weather is pretty cool sometimes.  Below, five reasons why.

Too Much Information: Look! I'm Being Topical!

One of the things I learned from being a Journalism major (other than that I did not want to be a journalist) was that you get bonus points for being topical.  So this week I'm going to get all topical on your ass (oh, and I mean that figuratively, as in, "I'm going to be current," not as in, "I am going to externally apply ointment to your ass") and talk about Merv Griffin, the game show grand-daddy and entertainer extraordinaire who died yesterday at the age of 82.  As you may know, Merv was the creator of Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, two of the most O.G. game shows there are.  Today, I will explore the ways the world would have been if Merv Griffin had never been born and these shows had never existed.
