So, I've written quite a few posts on literature, like this one about children's literature and this one about dysfunctional literary families. Since I've filled my quota, and already written about my two favorite literary genres, I've decided I'm going to do my own thing this week. (Mostly because, as of now this week's postings are limited, and I don't feel like I should be held back by rules if no one's even bothering to write). You may have noticed that I title every blog posting I write with a song title. Today's quiz will be a listing of alllll of my quiz titles and you have to pick the band that sang the song. I've been planning to do this for a long time. Have fun and Happy Holidays!

I don't want to step on anyone's feet by posting in place of Phylan, but I feel a certain affinity for YouTub (it being my brainchild). I thought I'd do a quick and dirty search for book videos.

As an English Major, I was assigned many, many books. One semester, no shit, I was assigned over 30 books to read. In nine weeks. I can sum up my feelings on those assignments in two words:
YEAH RIGHT!
I so did not read all those books. But did I earn A's in all those classes? Hellz to the Yeah I did. Because I know how to fake like I read it, and I can show you too.

Note: If you read this post before 8 pm, you read an unfinished draft version. Sorry -- I forgot I had to finish my post. Whoops!
I don't read much, or, at all really. This is unfortunate for many reasons, chief among them that I am supposed to be writing about books this week. Don't you remember how poorly things went the last time we focused all our energy on the printed word? Or have you already forgotten the Knut Hamsun debacle of April '07? I myself have been so turned off of literature that I haven't picked up a book since that fateful week. I guess it's good that this blog is closing down soon, since apparently we don't know how to learn from mistakes. In any event, I kind of luck out here because Ebay sells a ridiculous number of books. I have chosen to focus solely on children's books published between 1900-1949. I'm hoping beyond hope that I find some sort of blog fodder here.

As a child of the 80's, Book It! was the cornerstone of my education. It was such an unbelievably sweet deal. First of all, you read Encyclopedia Brown, then you get a sweet purple pin, then you get stickers, then you get a PERSONAL PAN PIZZA! Then you burn the roof of your mouth on the blazing hot cheese product, then you cry so loudly that your parents have to take you out of the restaurant and you never get to finish your pizza. Then you understand how unfair the world is, and then you grow into a bitter, soulless husk of an adult.
At least, that was my experience. Apparently, I'm not the only person that harbors hard feelings towards Book It! Some pundits claim that it's bad because it rewards booksmarts with junk food. This is just part of Book It!'s terrible blight on society. Read on for my reasons to be pissed off at Book It!

We know that a lot of famous people did/do drugs, like LiLo, The Beatles, Kurt Cobain...hey, the list goes on. But there are some famous people (many of whom are now dead) who did lots of cocaine specifically (which I'm pretty sure is a stimulant, but my drug knowledge consists of what I learned in D.A.R.E. in 1995. I'm cool like that.). Interestingly enough, the laws on sentencing for crack cocaine convictions just changed retroactively this Tuesday. Interested? Read more in the New York Times or the Washington Post. (The sentences for crack cocaine are now comparable with those for normal coke.) Oh and today's quiz is in Jeopardy! format again. Enjoy!
