Thanks for hanging out these past few months (years?). It was enjoyable to quiz you guys on erudite and odd trivia and kept me thinking, even when I wasn't in school. Thanks for giving me another nerd outlet, and I'm glad that I got to share useless information (that somehow is always useful). Since this sounds like a farewell speech, I've decided that for the last day we'll have a quiz on famous goodbyes...Enjoy!

So, I've written quite a few posts on literature, like this one about children's literature and this one about dysfunctional literary families. Since I've filled my quota, and already written about my two favorite literary genres, I've decided I'm going to do my own thing this week. (Mostly because, as of now this week's postings are limited, and I don't feel like I should be held back by rules if no one's even bothering to write). You may have noticed that I title every blog posting I write with a song title. Today's quiz will be a listing of alllll of my quiz titles and you have to pick the band that sang the song. I've been planning to do this for a long time. Have fun and Happy Holidays!

We know that a lot of famous people did/do drugs, like LiLo, The Beatles, Kurt Cobain...hey, the list goes on. But there are some famous people (many of whom are now dead) who did lots of cocaine specifically (which I'm pretty sure is a stimulant, but my drug knowledge consists of what I learned in D.A.R.E. in 1995. I'm cool like that.). Interestingly enough, the laws on sentencing for crack cocaine convictions just changed retroactively this Tuesday. Interested? Read more in the New York Times or the Washington Post. (The sentences for crack cocaine are now comparable with those for normal coke.) Oh and today's quiz is in Jeopardy! format again. Enjoy!

We have a final next week in Scientific Methods for Social Scientists. Last week, our professor asked us what format we'd prefer for the final. We responded in a rousing chorus of "matching!" Matching tests are the greatest. You can really use process of elimination way more than you can with multiple choice, and creative teachers can make the letters you use spell things. Without matching, I never would have pulled B in high school chemistry. Since finals are around this week, instead of creating a normal, multiple choice quiz for you today, I'm going to gift you with a lovely matching quiz of college mascots. Roll over the school mascots to see what animals/blobs they purport to be. Then hit the word bank to pick what school you think is right. There are no letters, so nothing is going to spell anything fun.

I love obscure holidays just as much as the next girl. In fact, when I was a counselor at camp we had a "Holiday Parade" (each cabin had to dress up like a holiday), I told my cabin they could choose between either Arbor Day or Groundhog Day. This resulted in eight 15-year-old-girls dressed up as trees. Still, it was a hit because we made a sign that said "Have You Hugged a Tree Today?" and my girls got hugs from alllll the hott boyz. Still, my favorite holiday is not so obscure: Independence Day. At camp every year I let my girls decorate my car with paint and streamers and they'd sit in the trunk and out the windows and it was always fun (mostly because it was the only chance we had to feel air conditioning). Then we would sit in the soccer field and watch beautiful fireworks. I love fireworks and America (and camp) so this week's quiz will be on fireworks. And America. And camp too.

Happy Black Friday! I will not be shopping today, because that's silly. I usually go, but for some reason I'm not really pressed this year. Instead, I'm spending the night of Thanksgiving posting this blog. Which will probably not be very good, because I'm full and tired from a long dinner and a lot of yelling about politics. (We have a really really political Thanksgiving. It's great.) Regardless, I'm here to talk about high school, and instead of fun fun trivia, I'm going to give you questions from high school exams and the SAT to see if you are as smart as you think you are. Because, frankly, I thought high school was harder than college.

I loved high school. I went to a school named after a poet in a wonderful school district in a Maryland suburb. (I'm sure you can't figure it out...) I am still BFF with my BFFs from high school (idk, my bff rose) and I miss them a whole freaking lot. Also, my current employment involves visiting high schools throughout the state of New Jersey. And my life sometimes resembles episodes of Dawson's Creek. Or a really poor version of Gossip Girl. And sometimes I sing, so it's like High School Musical. I know not everyone relished in their high school experience and may not want to revisit it this week, but great writing does usually come out of horrible experiences. And also, my five-year reunion is this Friday. wooohoooooo

I <3 toys. In fact, due to a condition known as Only-Child Syndrome, I still retain most of my toys in my parents' house. I have a few favorites, like the Playmobil Dollhouse (which, don't worry, I'm not that spoiled, I saved up for and paid for half of it), my Cabbage Patch Kid (that's not the one I had, I couldn't find a pic of Noreen Trista), and my Matchbox cars and garage (that one's not as cool as mine. Mine has an elevator.). There were also a few toys that I wanted and never got, like that awesome Fisher-Price car and an American Girl doll. The American Girl Company does not let me forget that I never got one, because I STILL GET THE CATALOG. Do they not realize they've been sending me the thing since like 1991, and I've never bought a thing? Maybe they think I have my own daughter by now and will buy it for her...HAH.

First of all, I can't believe it took all week and no one brought up the best dictator tool of our lifetimes: The Guess the Dictator/Sitcom Character Game! (It's changed a little since 2002, I think it was better then, but who knows...) I love history and crazy people, so dictatorships are a natural interest of mine. But what's more interesting than kooky world leaders who rename months after themselves and force everyone to carry around little red books, are their equally kooky wives. Millions of shoes? Right on Imelda. Deputy head of the Cultural Revolution? Only you, Madame Mao. But there is one dictator's wife that got me going early on, thanks to a fantastic musical about a woman who rose from poverty and helped bring her country down: Evita Perón.

I've got this huge term paper due on Friday and my post is due on Friday as well, but I know I won't get my paper done if I'm busy thinking about my fave Ben Song. Last week I used a line from my favorite Ben song to title my post. If you haven't noticed, I ALWAYS use a song lyric for my post. So I would like to think I inspired this week's theme, although Tori claims she's had this planned for a while. Regardless, since I've been writing pages and pages on the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967, I figured I could take a short break to write about my favorite Ben Folds song. And even though "Brick" takes place on my birthday, it's way too depressing to write about. Instead, I'm going to write about Ben Folds in general, because he's awesome and I took my Mom to one of his shows a couple of years ago and even SHE enjoyed it. (My mother tends to only like music from before 1829, unless it's the Beatles, so that's a hell of an endorsement.) Also, I realize that as much as I sweat 'ol Benny, most of you love him way more, so this trivia should be super easy for you. Sham on!
