I've decided, after trying to write this week's post, to order and read this book. You would think looking for a bunch of performance art on YouTube wouldn't be that difficult, but the persistent (and by now cliche) "medium for the amateur" aspect quickly poo-pooed that notion. When I set out looking for performance art, I wasn't looking for people who were attention-starved and untalented enough to post their own videos of their performances, but I got about 12 pages worth. Despite this, there is some good stuff mixed in.
This guy makes some pretty cool art using a bunch of sand and a giant projection screen. It starts off basic, but the real shit (the shit that makes you feel shit) kicks in around 3:30.
Same concept, different guy. This one is a bit more melodramatic in terms of production values, but still pretty cool:
Moving away from performance art and into the inane and superfluous, we have the Norman Rockwell of food aesthetics - latte art. To be fair, though, the amount of time you'd have to work at a coffee shop to produce stuff like this would probably amass you about a thousand times the wealth of an actual performance artist.
Finally, this isn't at all relevant, but it came up when I was searching various art related terms so you're just going to have to stay with me on this. There is an entire series of the following on YouTube, but I refrained from scrapping the entire theme and just posting all of them because a) this one is the funniest one anyway and b) it turns out to be just a big web promotion for a goddamned blender company. Also note how unapologetically creepy this guy is:
YouTub runs on Thursdays at noon.

omfg, I am OBSESSED with the coffee guy.

I had to turn down the music on the sand art because it was creeping me out
