Circle Trivia would simply not be interesting. But one of the most interesting trivia games is almost entirely comprised of circles. The board, the playing pieces, and even your eventual goal is to make a circle. Of course, I'm talking about Trivial Pursuit! To Emily-ize this quiz though, and since I recently moved home temporarily, I've found that our family does not get rid of anything (I knew this before, but as I type this right now, within my reach, there's a CPU from 1990 with not just a floppy disk drive, but a real, legit, actually floppy floppy drive, a furby key chain, a 2003 Maryland Baseball schedule, a Jeopardy! 1999 calendar, an already colored Muppet coloring book, the sign-in board from my Bat Mitzvah and a typewriter.) Therefore, we also have an original, first edition Trivial Pursuit game from 1981. And it hasn't even made it to the basement yet. (Lauren, I think you should maybe do some field research and examine our household's basement as well...) Today's quiz will be comprised of outdated questions from this 1981 version of TP. And sorry if I'm totally breaking copyright, but I'm hereby attributing the following, outdated, incorrect trivia to Trivial Pursuit, copyright 1981, Horn Abbot Ltd.
Just to keep you guys all fresh and with 1981 Trivial Pursuit, here's the Code Card, genus. (I made it on the computer, so it's not legit, but the categories are correct. Also, a bunch of the categories aren't used because you can't really change Art & Literature like that.)
Ok, here are your questions, first the category, then the question, then the 1981 answer, followed by the 2007 answer.

(Sorry, I couldn't help it. I mean, it was the theme after all. Thank goodness geometry hasn't changed that much in 26 years.)
Emily's Trivia Quiz runs Fridays at 9:00 a.m. Usually it's not this long, but she's recently unemployed and has found that it is quite necessary, normal and prudent to spend the day reading boxes of old Trivial Pursuit cards.

that was the box of trivial pursuit cards that i grew up with!
If we asked nicely, my parents would let us use the Genus II edition (1984), but they encouraged us to not dip into it until we'd "used up" all of the original questions.

Yeah even before I read the other comments saying this was a good column, my reaction was like, clearly this is the best column. I can't imagine the OO passing you by this week, unless he's just deciding to be a jerk.

Let it be known: I was planning on doing a good job this afternoon, as I thought the race for Column of the Week honors to be wide open. But now that I've read Emily's column, I really have no reason to even try.

Also, does the Trivial Pursuit card about IQs below 25 list the answer as "An idiot. Seriously." or just "An idiot."?

I cannot be beaten in the Genus version. Send it around. If you dare.
Also, Best. Quiz. Ever.
