Believe it or not, there are actually nine hits for the term "Knut Hamsun" on YouTube. Four of them have nothing to do with the author himself, and the five that do serve only to reinforce my budding theory that all things coming from Norway are intolerably boring, really strange, or just terrible. Besides, Jerome has already explored in great detail why Knut the polar bear cub is the superior Knut in question, and I've found, in the dilligent research that I've performed for this post, that the author sent his Nobel prize medal for The Growth of the Soil as a gift to Nazi propagandist and well known kitten-stomper Joseph Goebbels. Now that there's an Omtubsman on the watch, I can't risk appearing to be a kitten-stomper sympathizer by association. Thankfully, YouTube has plenty of Knut the Greater material to prove my love for cute baby animals.
The following is probably the best thing I've ever seen on YouTube. Since that is an effectively meaningless non-compliment, I'll also add that it's probably the cutest thing I've seen on the internet (including the pictures of Lindsey Lohan's vagina where it looks like a golden retriever puppy if you squint the right way - try it!) This is all despite the fact that, for absolutely no reason, it was unable to escape the YouTube "must overdub unbearably sappy music" posting compulsion.
Come on, he flails his arms while feeding from a bottle. The only thing keeping me from slipping into Cute Overload territory here is that I find it absolutely insufferable to end words in "-eh" for no goddamned reason.
Here is some footage from an older, possibly fluffier Knut. This is from a television program in Germany and hence is in their crazy moon language, which may give your co-workers the impression that you're watching a boring war movie or bondage pornography (pick your poison). So, to quote The Shins, "TIME TO PUT ZE EARPHONES ON!"
Finally, this seems to be a music video for some bizarre song about Knut, but again, it's in German, so who the hell knows. I would like to think it is a loving ode, but given the spliced-in shot of starving African children in the middle, I'm inclined to doubt it.
YouTub runs on Thursdays at noon.

GOD Knut is so Cnute
